Responsibilities

Load, unload, and secure directional bore equipment without damage.

Transport tools, materials, and equipment safely.

Inspect bore equipment daily before use.

Prepare drill fluid based on site conditions before boring.

Work with the bore crew to locate and operate directional drill using selected bore heads and back reamers to place cables.

Operate horizontal directional drill equipment in accordance with company and industry standards.

Locate cables and verify placement per blueprints.

Identify utilities in the construction area and bore path.

Connect, stub‑up conduit, and wire as required.

Dig pits, trenches, or potholes, including windows when crossing utilities.

Restore and landscape disturbed jobsite areas.

Complete all required company documentation (timesheets, vehicle logs, expense reports) accurately.

Adhere to all company safety policies and perform work safely.

Perform additional duties as assigned to help the team complete projects.

Qualifications

Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction prints, plans, and specifications.

Knowledge of utility depths and placements.

General construction knowledge.

Ability to work efficiently, independently, and collaboratively in moderate to loud environments.

Experience working in trenches, manholes, and tunnels.

Excellent attention to detail and thoroughness.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to move materials/equipment weighing up to 80 pounds.

Ability to manage multiple tasks with changing priorities to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.

Willingness to work outside in varying weather conditions.

Ability to work 10+ hours in a day when necessary.

Travel

Weekly travel required. Company will pay hotel expenses (shared room) and per diem.

Preferred Education and Experience

One year of experience operating a directional borer, preferably in the telecommunications field.

Previous rock boring experience.

Class A CDL.
