Forklift Operator Lead

Our mission is to feed the world, and we’re looking for a dedicated forklift operator to lead a skilled team in the safe and efficient movement of food products.
Primary Responsibility Under general supervision, you will ensure the safe and accurate receipt, storage, and shipment of food products using equipment such as sit‑down and stand‑up forklifts, straddle trucks, walk‑behind forklifts, pallet jacks, double pallet jacks, and radio‑frequency equipment. Up to 25% of the job involves assisting the supervisor in coordinating workflow, recommending work assignments, training associates, ensuring on‑time completion of assignments, and enforcing safety and work procedures.
What You’ll Do
Direct the work of others, reviewing schedule with supervisor at shift beginning, discussing daily plan and objectives, and advising supervisor of any problems.
Load and unload freight efficiently and safely.
Move product to storage areas with appropriate equipment.
Efficiently stack and store merchandise in designated areas.
Pick orders for shipment and assemble various types of merchandise.
Check or count freight for accuracy, damage, and infestation.
Assist in maintaining warehouse security.
Promote a safe working environment.
Participate in physical inventories as needed.
Perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking.
Operate equipment safely and efficiently (stand‑up forklift, stand‑up straddle truck, walk‑behind, pallet jacks, double pallet jacks, RF equipment).
Report all equipment safety malfunctions.
Comply with OSHA standards.
Adhere to attendance policy and arrive on time and ready for assigned shift.
Meet production standards.
Maintain a clean, neat, organized work environment.
Charge or change forklift battery as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned, including non‑core responsibilities when required.
What Experience And Education You Need
High school diploma or GED preferred; three months of related experience preferred.
Relevant certifications.
Basic computer skills.

Willingness to work overtime, evenings, or weekends as needed.
Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
One year of experience as a warehouse worker and ability to schedule trucks, assign tasks, and lead a team.
Experience with warehouse management systems and related technology; familiarity with pallet jack, high lift, sit‑down or stand‑up lift truck, Hi‑lift, RC equipment.
Physical Requirements
Work in spaces with 55‑inch headroom.
Tolerate controlled temperatures of –15°F and ambient temperatures including heat, cold, and precipitation.
Tolerate heights up to 30 ft. and access elevated products from a safety cage.
Stand up to 5 hours during an 8‑hour shift.
Transfer boxes weighing up to 55 lbs. from ground to 80 inches, and up to 70 lbs. to 50 inches when rebuilding pallets.
Lifting and carrying product up to 6 ft. without mechanical assistance.
