Job Description and Duties Working under the direction of the Caltrans Maintenance Storm Water Supervisor, the incumbent works with and operates special types of equipment in the District Storm Water Crew. This crew is responsible for performing most storm water related maintenance activities throughout the District. These activities include cleaning and maintaining all types of drains. The crew is also responsible for sweeping highways and mitigating erosion throughout the District’s maintenance area. There may be occasions while working in this program where the incumbent will be required to act as both laborer and operator.

Eligibility and Examination Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Caltrans Equipment Operator II/I exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. CEO II: Requires a valid unrestricted Class A commercial driver’s license, with Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement, and current valid DMV medical.

CEO I: Requires a valid unrestricted Class B commercial driver’s license, with Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement, and valid DMV medical.
