Job Summary The Maintenance Technician at Emerald Nursing and Rehab Columbus plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and safety of our skilled nursing facility. This position involves performing routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, equipment, and grounds to maintain a safe, clean, and functional environment for our residents and staff.

Work Environment This position requires working both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to various environmental conditions. Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, as needed.

Responsibilities

Conduct regular inspections of the facility’s systems and equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. Perform preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules.

Diagnose and repair issues related to electrical systems, plumbing, heating, and cooling systems. Address and resolve problems promptly to minimize disruptions.

Ensure that all maintenance work complies with relevant safety regulations and facility policies. Perform safety checks and address any hazards or safety concerns immediately.

Respond to emergency maintenance requests as needed, including after‑hours calls. Prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact on resident safety and comfort.

Assist with the coordination of external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or services. Ensure that all work performed by external parties meets facility standards and requirements.

Oversee the upkeep of maintenance tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and properly stored.

Assist with general facility maintenance tasks, including landscaping, painting, and minor construction projects. Support other departments as needed.

Collaborate with facility management and staff to identify and address maintenance needs. Provide clear and timely communication regarding the status of maintenance requests and repairs.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Formal training or certification in maintenance, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or a related field is preferred.

Previous experience in a maintenance role, especially in a healthcare or skilled nursing setting, is highly desirable.

Proficient in a variety of maintenance and repair techniques.

Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Good organizational and time‑management skills.

Basic computer skills for record‑keeping and communication.
