Ocean Freight Operations Agent w/ 1yr of Logistics Operation Exp

Responsibilities
Identify, organize and coordinate customer shipping requirements.
Accurately and efficiently prepare documents for ocean export shipments and import documents for distribution to Brokerage Operations and/or customers’ Brokers.
Accurately and timely prepare invoices and all required AS-400 database entries.
Effectively coordinate pickup and delivery orders with steamship, trucking, rail and warehouse companies.
Provide professional, timely, and high-quality customer service through daily communication with customers via phone and email.
Communicate effectively with internal departments, other regional branches and offices, and all external contacts; interact professionally with co-workers and others at all times.
Effectively interface and consult with the Customs Brokerage Department to obtain technical guidance for regulatory compliance purposes as required by agencies including the EAR and U.S. Customs.
Provide rates to internal and external customers, with direct contact with customer.
Perform specific and assigned operations and administrative tasks to provide high-quality customer service while meeting the Company’s goals.
Qualifications
High school graduate or GED, or equivalency certificate, or significant relevant or appropriate working experience.
2+ years’ freight-forwarding industry experience in ocean cargo operations preferred, but not mandatory.
Experience in FCL / LCL Ocean Cargo logistics and documentation preferred, but not mandatory.
Experience with steamship lines' Bill of Lading and INCO terms preferred, but not mandatory.
Experience with Ocean accounting preferred, but not mandatory.
Basic PC skills – MS Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, AS400 knowledge.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, customer service, and teamwork skills, with professional, positive, and motivated demeanor.
Must be available to work flexible scheduled hours and days depending upon customer demands.
