Position Summary This is a full-time Construction Services Technician position in the Construction Services Group with office locations in Saginaw, St. Johns, East Lansing, Dundee, and Bingham Farms.

Typical Day on the Job
Act as client, contractor, and project manager liaison for the construction of municipal and MDOT infrastructure projects.
Observe construction work in progress to ensure conformance with specifications; examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards; and maintain detailed records of work performed by contractors.
Communicate directly with clients and owners, hold and attend meetings, review shop drawings, perform quantity take‑offs, and generate preliminary estimates of cost.
Perform office technician duties such as reviewing certified payrolls, reviewing IDRs for compliance with standards, generating pay estimates and contract modifications.
Familiarity with MDOT specifications, standard plans, and work practice is preferred.
Conduct material testing related to: HMA sampling, concrete sampling and testing, aggregate sampling, mechanical testing of aggregates, and compaction testing for granular, aggregate, clay, and HMA materials.
Requirements
High school diploma.
Construction inspection experience, preferably in the areas of municipal infrastructure, MDOT road, and bridge construction.
Valid driver’s license.
