Primary Purpose Perform all custodial cleanliness tasks and ensure a safe, clean, healthy school campus. Tasks are assigned by Campus Head Custodian.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
Special Knowledge / Skills
Leadership skills to direct other employees and achieve all assigned custodial tasks.
Read instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.
Basic computer skills to understand district software, approve employee time sheets, submit work orders, and order custodial supplies.
Communicate verbally and in writing to other staff concerning job requirements and other important information.
Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance.
Operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment.
Basic understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to know the proper dilution of chemicals.
Work Conditions
Tools/Equipment Used: buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, hand tools.
Posture: frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting.
Motion: frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching, overhead reaching.
Lifting: heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) daily; occasional exertion of a heavy force (50 lbs or greater).
Environment: work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals, high noise levels; regular irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours.
Mental Demands: frequent changes in task; maintain emotional control under stress.
Regular attendance is an essential function.
Minimum Experience Custodial experience desired but not required.
