Position Objective The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Heavy equipment may include front‑end loaders, graders, rollers, skidsteers, excavators, pavers and other pieces of heavy equipment.
Essential Functions
Knowledge of equipment safety and the ability to operate in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
Knowledge of operation of front‑end loaders, graders, rollers, skidsteers, excavators, pavers and other pieces of heavy equipment.
Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
Advise job foreman of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
Demonstrate knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques.
Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
Maintain daily records.
Demonstrate self‑motivation, and excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skills.
May perform other related duties.
Competencies
Must meet minimum age requirements.
Completion of grade 12 or equivalent preferred.
Valid driver's license required, Commercial driver's license helpful.
