Position Overview

The Director of Maintenance & Facilities is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic direction, operational excellence, and continuous improvement of all maintenance functions across the Pennsylvania greenhouse operations.

This role ensures that equipment, infrastructure, and systems operate reliably, efficiently, and safely to support business needs. The Director will lead a high-performing technical team, oversee major capital projects, and collaborate with leaders across operations, engineering, HR, and construction.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement long-term maintenance strategies aligned with business growth and operational goals, including PM programs, spare parts management, and technical utilization.

Establish and oversee infrastructure systems that ensure continuous delivery of water, heat, steam, electrical power, gas, and air required for operations.

Lead reliability initiatives to reduce downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

Manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs to maximize uptime and reliability.

Optimize CMMS systems to track performance, manage work orders, and control inventory.

Develop KPI reporting that ties maintenance performance back to plant operations.

Analyze operational data and equipment performance to improve PM compliance, schedule compliance, MTBF, MTTR, and overall maintenance cost.

Partner with HR to support hiring, skill development, and pipeline creation of technical maintenance talent.

Build collaborative vendor relationships and manage service agreements and improvement opportunities.

Ensure the team proactively identifies and resolves equipment and facility maintenance needs.

Partner with operations and construction teams to plan and execute facility improvements and capital projects.

Assist the maintenance team in resolving critical equipment issues, including mechanical, electrical, and PLC troubleshooting.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, sustainability, and equipment reliability.

Oversee grounds team responsibilities and external systems including waste and recycling management.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline required; advanced degree preferred.

10+ years of progressive leadership experience in maintenance or manufacturing environments.

Proven experience managing large-scale capital projects and leading high-performing teams.

Expertise in CMMS systems, preventive maintenance methodology, and reliability engineering.

Strong knowledge of PLC systems, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.

Strong analytical and decision‑making skills.

Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.

Physically capable of performing essential job functions, including lifting, climbing, and walking.
