The Accounting Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. This role involves supervising accounting staff, maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The Sr. Accounting Supervisor plays a crucial role in streamlining processes, enhancing efficiency, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
Duties and responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of accounting professional, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations
Assign tasks and projects to team members, ensuring deadlines are met and work quality meets standards
Foster a positive and collaborative team environment
Oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP/ IFRS
Review and analyze financial reports, identify, and resolve discrepancies or issues
Coordinate month-end and year-end closing processes
Ensure proper maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger accounts
Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing payment disbursement and collections
Mange bank reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of any discrepancies
Ensure compliance with state and federal financial regulations
Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity
Coordinate with external auditors and prepare necessary documentation for audits
Assist in preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts and annual standard cost update
Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis
Support management with financial planning and strategic decision-making
Lead and participate in projects aimed at enhancing efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations
Implement best practices and new technologies to streamline workflows
Collaborate with other departments to support overall business objectives
Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business growth and performance
Other ad-hoc may be assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA or CMA certification preferred
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2years in a supervisory role
