We are immediately hiring an Outbound Dock Supervisor at our San Jose, CA service center.

Job Summary The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily terminal and dock operations, ensuring freight is handled, sorted, loaded, and unloaded safely and efficiently. This role manages dockworkers and shift teams, enforces compliance with company policies and government regulations, and drives operational excellence through training, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor employee safety practices daily.
Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other federal/state regulations.
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard‑free dock environment.
Supervise dockworkers and assign tasks to optimize labor and equipment utilization.
Ensure trailers are loaded/unloaded correctly to guarantee safe freight transport.
Review operational reports and provide recommendations to improve efficiency, service quality, and cost control.
Make quick, informed decisions based on freight volume and communicate schedules to staff.
Coach and train employees on safety procedures, company policies, company procedures, and operational performance.
Provide constructive feedback and manage disciplinary actions when necessary.
Conduct daily shift meetings to align teams with business objectives.
Utilize internal freight monitoring systems (LTL38, VTrack, YMS, Maven) to track shipments, productivity, and ensure proper freight movement.
Complete required company and government forms, including hazmat documents, manifests, freight bills, and exception reports.
Partner with Operations and Service Center Managers to meet daily, weekly, and monthly performance goals.
Provide analysis and suggestions for operational improvements across shifts and departments.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience in warehouse, freight, dock, or logistics operations.
Prior supervisory or team leadership experience.
Knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and safe freight‑handling practices.
Forklift certification or hazmat training preferred.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in verifying shipments.
Successful completion of new‑hire training, including assessments, and forklift test.
Minimum 18 years of age.
Physical Requirements This position requires but is not limited to the following physical requirements: sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, material moving, lifting, and reaching.
In addition, this position requires but is not limited to the following cognitive requirements: Maintain situational awareness, read manifests, interpret navigation, and identify shipment labels accurately. Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Working Environment This position operates in various environments, including indoor docks, enclosed vehicles, and outdoor areas. Work may occur in extreme temperatures, inclement weather, low‑light conditions, and around moving equipment or other personnel engaged in freight handling.
Operating Schedule Days: Monday through Sunday (varies by business needs)
Shifts: AM/PM schedules are determined by operational requirements and subject to change.

Pay Range: 70000.00–75000.00 per year, General Benefits
