Job Summary Responsible for the nutritional care of the residents/patients in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, facility established policies and procedures and in coordination with the Nutrition Services Director (NSD) to ensure that quality nutritional care and food service is provided at all times. Abington Manor is a 119 bed Skilled Nursing facility with a supportive family environment.

Requirements
Must possess, as a minimum, a baccalaureate degree in dietetics or related field, or as required by regulation.
Must have, as a minimum, one year clinical Dietitian experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility. Training in diet therapy and nutrition counseling. Any combination of experience and training which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
Must be a registered dietitian and maintain a current license as required by state law. Must have a reliable source of transportation.
Must successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check and physical / drug screen.
Responsibilities
Maintains records of the patient's/resident's food preferences.
Ensures that diet changes and new diet orders as received from nursing service are processed and accurately reflect physician orders.
Reviews and calculates the estimated nutritional requirements of each patient/resident admitted to the facility. Completes a nutritional assessment upon admission and at least annually thereafter, or as otherwise necessary.
Plans therapeutic diet menus as prescribed by the attending physician, including those that are not part of the standardized facility menu. Approves and signs facility menus.
Involves the patient/resident assessments, MDS, and CAAs, as necessary.
Maintains an adequate liaison with families and patients/residents, as necessary.
Visits patients/residents routinely to evaluate the quality of meals served, meal intake, preferences, etc.
Assists in the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing, perform other essential functions and duties as assigned.
Supports the facility.
Is knowledgeable of patient/resident rights and promotes an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment.
Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs.
