Summary The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of the maintenance team to ensure the efficient operation of machinery, equipment, and facilities. This role involves scheduling preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and optimizing equipment uptime. The supervisor will also collaborate with other departments, manage maintenance budgets, and ensure the team is trained in the latest techniques and safety protocols.

Duties and Responsibilities

Direct, lead and supervise Maintenance Technicians – including training, planning and scheduling, performance reviews, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving issues.

Provide leadership for the maintenance team; mentoring, motivating and coaching.

Promote a safety‑centered culture and ensure compliance within the workplace.

Work closely with production, quality control and other departments to optimize equipment performance.

Communicate maintenance status and updates to the operations team and management.

Create, track, review and maintain the maintenance budget.

Track spare parts inventory to avoid shortages and ensure timely repairs.

Work with contractors and vendors for project and equipment quotes and scheduling work.

Oversee contractor work and insure proper clean‑up procedures are followed at close of projects.

Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule to minimize downtime; assign and prioritize work orders.

Lead the team in continuous improvement projects and support other area needs.

Identify and implement cost savings, improvements and safety measures to boost overall performance and proficiency.

Enter and manage maintenance information in JD Edwards and the Maintenance Portal.

Oversee cleaning and maintenance of grounds, parking lots, fencing and building facilities (e.g., plumbing).

Ensure team members complete work orders, records, logs and other written or computer‑based documents accurately and timely.

Troubleshoot complex problems with equipment when maintenance technicians need assistance.

Occasionally operate material handling equipment, battery equipment, moving machinery and other powered equipment.

Attend staff and department meetings timely.

Actively participate on EOE teams that improve workplace safety, reduce waste and improve factory efficiencies.

Perform all duties as assigned.

Stay up to date on industry advancements and new technologies to improve maintenance practices.

Adhere to ERU food safety policies and all government food safety and sanitation regulations (e.g., FDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA).

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required; Technical or Engineering degree highly desirable.

2+ years of supervisory experience required; experience supervising maintenance associates preferred.

5+ years of experience in maintenance or mechanics.

Proven ability to manage large projects and budgets.

Flexibility to work after hours, and some weekend and holidays if needed.

Forklift, scissor, and aerial lift license within first week.

Course work or certification in welding, electrical, boiler, HVAC, mechanical automation or industrial electronics.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals and percentages.

Good computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Read and understand technical drawings (e.g., blueprints, electronic/mechanical schematics, equipment manuals) to repair/maintain equipment.

Ability to communicate clearly to other departments and team as necessary to drive alignment and visibility.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work with automated equipment and power equipment.

Ability to multi‑task and prioritize under pressure.

Ability to work in cross‑functional teams.

Good organization and problem‑solving skills.

Detail‑oriented nature.

Minimal travel required.
