Job Summary The Product Manager plans, organizes, and controls assigned product lines from conception through the full product life cycle to achieve optimal profitability and support marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives. This role will serve as Dorman’s Mexico Product expert, responsible for identifying product opportunities, shaping portfolio strategy, and developing a scalable Mexico‑focused product roadmap. The Product Manager will drive ideation and opportunity assessment, leverage the breadth of the existing Dorman catalog for expansion into Mexico, and support the establishment and growth of a Mexico‑based supply base. This role partners cross‑functionally with sourcing, sales, and customers by providing local product and technical support to sales teams, customers, and automotive technicians. The Product Manager actively thinks long‑term (12–24 months), plans accordingly, and drives initiatives through successful execution.
Primary Duties
Establish product roadmaps and define category, customer, and go‑to‑market strategies, with a strong focus on Mexico‑related growth initiatives.
Act as the Mexico Product Subject Matter Expert, with deep understanding of Dorman’s catalog, coverage philosophy, and value proposition.
Identify and develop new product opportunities through ideation, market research, customer feedback, technician insights, competitive analysis, and application gap analysis.
Leverage existing Dorman products and platforms to identify opportunities for expansion, localization, or line extensions in the Mexico market.
Maintain a strong pulse on market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies.
Support efforts to establish, expand, and optimize a Mexico‑based supply base, in collaboration with sourcing.
Participate in evaluating which product categories and part types are best suited for Mexico manufacturing based on cost structure, complexity, quality requirements, and volume.
Create and deliver engaging presentations with influence to support selling.
Perform pricing reviews, set forecast for new adds.
Attend national tradeshows.
Proactively follow‑up with account managers on a consistent basis.
Support Sales team through ongoing education, line reviews, and training.
Create and set sample, Operating Income (OI) and new budgets for product lines.
Manage profitability for assigned product line.
Qualifications
Experience within a manufacturing or distribution environment is preferred.
Prior experience working and leading cross‑functional teams.
Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate at all levels of the organization and move projects through the organization with minimal direction.
Must be a native Spanish speaker with fluency in English to correspond and communicate effectively.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software suite and specifically Excel, including pivot tables and v‑lookups.
Must be willing to travel 20% of the time and have occasional weekend responsibility.
Physical Requirement Capability to lift 50 pounds.
Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen. Noise level is usually moderate.
Education / Experience
B.S. degree in Business or a minimum of 5 years of work experience.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Product Management, Marketing, Product Engineering or Strategic sourcing with a strong focus on new product development.
Expansive knowledge of the Mexican automotive market.
