Job Purpose As a guardian of the Self-Checkout area, your primary role is to protect the company against inventory losses or fraud by overseeing the accurate scanning and recording of products at self-checkout stations. You’ll actively monitor transactions, address potential issues, and collaborate with leadership to prevent loss. Exceptional customer service is paramount, as you assist and engage with customers, providing guidance on the self-checkout process and promptly addressing inquiries, contributing to a positive shopping experience that increases customer confidence and loyalty.
Essential Responsibilities
Protects against inventory losses or fraud at self-checkout lanes by providing exceptional customer service and intervening with appropriate responses when necessary.
Observes self-checkout transactions diligently to identify irregularities or suspicious activities.
Ensures customers are scanning and bagging items correctly, intervening when necessary to verify accuracy.
Responds promptly to POS alerts and notifications, investigating potential issues with transactions or discrepancies.
Reports any incidents of theft, suspicious behavior, or equipment malfunctions to store leadership.
Provides outstanding service in the Self-Checkout lanes according to SEG service standards: proactive assistance, educating customers on self-checkout, friendly engagement to create a positive environment, continuous attention to customer needs, monitoring traffic and inviting waiting customers, actively aiding scanning for those who require assistance.
Keeps the work area clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards: stocks front end products, cleans and sanitizes equipment during downtime or when spillage occurs, returns carts to shopping cart corral.

Qualifications Education Preferred Education:
High School / GED
Experience 0-3 years of supervisory experience; no supervisory experience required.
Language Requirements English (required). English & Spanish (preferred).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently.
Ability to understand and follow English instructions.
Compliance with all company policies and procedures.
High standard of integrity and reliability.
Basic computer skills required for online training.
Authorization to work in the U.S. or ability to obtain the same.
Successful completion of pre‑employment drug testing and background check.
Environmental Factors Physical Demands: regularly required to stand or walk, utilize manual dexterity, talk, see, hear, smell, perform repetitive movements; may reach up to waist level or overhead, carry or lift up to specified weights; frequently required to twist back and/or neck, walk on a slippery floor, work with hazardous equipment, exposed to sharp objects, loud noise, irritants, fumes.
Location and Travel Requirements Store location. No overnight or travel required.
