Ascentec Engineering is hiring a Cost/GL Accountant to play a vital role in our finance department, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, assisting with financial reporting, and supporting various accounting functions. This is a hybrid role, with approximately 50% of the responsibilities focused on cost accounting and the remaining 50% dedicated to general ledger reconciliation. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of inventory costing in a manufacturing environment and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Requirements Job Duties General ledger and month end
Prepare monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, reclasses, and standard allocations
Perform balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts and resolve reconciling items on a timely basis (Bank, FA, AP, AR)
Support preparation of monthly financial statements, variance analysis, and management reporting
Maintain and improve documentation of accounting processes and internal controls
Cost accounting and inventory
Maintain and update standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead in the ERP system
Analyze manufacturing variances and inventory adjustments; partner with operations and supply chain to understand root causes
Reconcile inventory subledger to the general ledger and prepare supporting schedules for inventory valuation
Monitor slow moving and obsolete inventory and assist in calculating reserves and participate in annual physical inventory count procedures.
Experience/Skills
Bachelor's or higher degree in accounting or finance plus
CMA required
Experience in a manufacturing or inventory intensive environment strongly preferred
3+ years relevant experience in general ledger accounting, cost accounting, or combination.
Strong understanding of accounting theory, knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting
Experience with GL, JE preparation, monthly and annual close processes
Proficiency in Epicor and Microsoft Office software including Word, Outlook, and Excel (including vlookup, pivot tables, etc.) highly preferred
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Effective communication skills and ability to work with both finance and operational teams

$80,000 to $100,000 annual salary DOE
