Job Summary
The Youth Mentor at the Maryville Youth Center is responsible for establishing meaningful relationships with youth in the community and supporting the development of positive skills and knowledge through athletic and academic programs. Using recreation experiences and leisure education, the Youth Mentor guides youth towards positive strategies and interactions with role models. Responsibilities
Assist in researching and developing weekly and monthly activities and schedules. Develop lesson plans focusing on academic achievement, life skills, social-emotional learning, arts and recreation activities, and other relevant areas. Engage in community outreach and recruitment activities by liaising with parents/guardians, school administrators, and other community resources. Enroll eligible youth in programming. Maintain a safe and positive environment, adhere to center policies, and implement positive discipline strategies. Participate in coaching and mentoring activities to build relationships with youth. Provide feedback for program improvements during evaluations. Attend professional workshops, conferences, and seminars as required. Foster open communication with team members involved with youth. Officiate games when needed. Perform other assigned duties. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (Human Services, Social Work, Education, etc.). Two years of experience in a related field such as youth work, mentoring, or community engagement. Salary Range: $19 to $21 per hour Location: Chicago Seniority level
