CEI Inspector - Utilities
Work Location: Atlanta, GA
Salary: Based on experience, will be discussed with manager in interview.
Duties/Responsibilities
Read and interpret roadway and structure plans, contract specifications, schedules, and quantities.
Monitor contractor’s on-site construction activities and perform inspections to ensure conformance to project plans and specifications; document the process.
Prepare daily field reports.
Ensure quality assurance is met for the project.
Meet scheduling and attendance requirements.
Understand and interpret schematic drawings.
Work on interstate widening projects that require utility monitoring.
Inspect installation of all utilities on the project.
Education & Experience
High School Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
3+ years of related work experience in utilities inspection as part of an interstate improvement project.
Experience with GDOT manuals, specifications and protocols.
Familiarity with traffic control plans including traffic shifts, detours, lane closures or other activities that disrupt traffic flow.
Knowledge of the properties, characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses of materials used in construction.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
Familiarity with GDOT Utility Coordination procedures during construction.
Physical Requirements
Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments.
Ability to carry required instruments and equipment.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Subject to variable climate and environmental conditions, including extreme cold and heat.
