Research Associate - RI Urology Ching
Join Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH to conduct independent research within a general area in conjunction with a Principal Investigator (PI). Manage basic and complex projects, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and expectations are met.
Essential Functions
Conduct independent research studies and laboratory analysis in conjunction with PI. Organize research experiments, arrange subjects, and maintain records.
Collect experimental data, conduct analysis per statistical procedures, maintain accurate logs of methods, results, and conclusions. Prepare reports, including graphs, tables, and photographs, for PI review.
Collaborate with other researchers. Serve as resource and mentor to less experienced staff.
Observe difficulties in setup and conduction. Assist PI with scientific publications, grant proposals, attend conferences, give presentations.
Order and maintain inventory, ensure equipment is operational, prepare budget proposals for equipment and supplies.
Monitor study expenditures to assure budgetary constraints are followed; assist in preparing research budgets and future proposals.
Education Requirement
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, required.
Master's Degree, preferred.
Skills
Use research methods to generate, collect, and analyze data for report preparation.
Develop position papers, reports, research grant proposals, and scientific publications.
Effective computer skills.
Experience One year of post-degree research experience, or a Master's Degree, required.
Physical Requirements Occasionally: Bend/twist, climb stairs/ladder, lift/carry 11-20 lbs, push/pull 26-40 lbs. Frequently: work with biohazard waste, blood, chemicals, cold temperatures, pathogens, electricity, fume/gas/vapors, hot temperatures, lift/carry 0-10 lbs, push/pull 0-25 lbs, standing, walking. Continuously: use computer, decision making, depth perception, hand use, hearing acuity, data interpretation, peripheral vision, problem solving, reach above shoulder, hand/arm use, sight – far/near, sitting, squatting/kneeling.
