Breastfeeding Peer Counselor (Part Time) Corona, NY
Position Summary The Breastfeeding Peer Counselor will join our Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) Department and serve as a source of support for our mothers and families. The WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor offers breastfeeding support and education to WIC participants. They provide accurate breastfeeding information to help promote breastfeeding in the community and as a peer can speak to the breastfeeding experience and provide wisdom.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Bilingual Spanish/English required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Outlook.
Key Duties
Provides basic breastfeeding education and support to assigned WIC prenatal or breastfeeding participants.
Documents the contacts in productivity record and submits the productivity record weekly to supervisor.
Completes all assigned breastfeeding trainings.
Follows the Peer Counselor contact frequency guidance.
Receives a caseload of WIC mothers and makes routine periodic contacts with all mothers assigned.
Compensation Minimum $17.25 per hour, Maximum $17.25 per hour
Work Environment Type, Location, and Schedule Corona-Queens, Hybrid, Tuesday 9:00 am- 5:00 pm, Thursday 8:00 am- 3:00 pm, Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
