We provide our employees a top-rated benefits package, supportive work culture, and more!**GENERAL DESCRIPTION**Under the direct supervision of the Radiologist and the Imaging Services Supervisor, this individual performs a variety of ultrasound procedures and related duties within their scope of practice and the policy and procedures of the department.

The scope of testing provided is for all patient ages, gender, culture and background.**CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES**1.

Performs ultrasound procedures with care, tact, courtesy and patience to obtain results as requested by written/electronic physician orders.

2.

Explain procedures to patient and family and acquire necessary clinical history responding to the patients questions

3.

Performs basic patient-related clerical work up duties.

4.

Stocks, orders and maintains supplies for the ultrasound rooms and procedures..

5.

Reports any problems to the department director that relate to the equipment, patients, personnel, supplies, etc.

6.

Performs ultrasound in conjunction with Imaging Services Department QA/I.

7.

Schedules patient exams as needed

8.

Monitors ultrasound schedule for patient orders, appropriate reason for exams and pre-authorizations prior to procedures.

9.

Determines appropriate equipment (transducer) and ultrasound machine settings for best image optimization.

10.

Uses annotation to indicate anatomical planes, patient position or other relevant information.

11.

Identifies, reports and documents ultrasound equipment malfunctions (IE transducer, monitor, recording media – printer)

12.

Cleans and disinfects equipment and transducers according to protocols

13.

Performs interventional procedures and provides pre- and post-care instructions, measures and documents respiratory rate, pulse, oxygen sat and blood pressure.

14.

Sends, documents and completes procedures in PACs

15.

Differentiates normal anatomy and abnormal finding during the sonography exam and selects images that completely demonstrate the findings.

16.

Teaches and supervises Ultrasound students in a professional environment

17.

Performs other duties as assigned.**PERFORMANCE STANDARDS**1.

Demonstrates flexibility to adapt to changes in workload, schedule, department function and procedures.

2.

Participates actively in creating a positive and harmonious work environment by demonstrating teamwork and cooperative, responsive behaviors.

3.

Meets/exceeds competency criteria specific to the task/duties of the position.

4.

Completes all annual hospital-wide mandatory training within defined time frame.

5.

Demonstrates competence in specified computer and ultrasound applications.

6.

Utilizes time wisely, completing all patient exams in a timely manner, assisting others and performing departmental duties as needed.

These duties may include restocking, housekeeping, patient safety and compliance improvements and inspection readiness.

7.

Completes ASAP exams within one hour or as directed by radiologist and reports all stat exams within one hour.**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**1.

Ability to demonstrate competency in sonographic procedures.

2.

Certification by the A.R.D.M.S. or registry eligible for sonography.

3.

Successful demonstration of competence in Basic Life Support (Health Care Provider).

4.
