Description CorrectHealth currently has an exciting full-time day shift opportunity to join our growing team as an Peer Support Specialist in Gretna, LA!

Certified as Peer Specialist or certification eligible. Position is onsite Monday - Friday.

Currently, CorrectHealth provides high quality, cost-effective, comprehensive healthcare services inside the walls of more than 40 correctional facilities throughout Georgia and Louisiana.

This is a rewarding opportunity to share your successful recovery walk with mental health patients in an earlier phase of their recovery journey. You will work in a safe, therapeutic, environment with individuals receiving treatment designed to restore them to competency so they can move through the criminal justice process in a timely manner. As a peer support specialist you will provide support, advocacy, and information for individuals with mental illness in a forensic setting.

Job Summary:

Serve as a role model for recovery using your lived experience as a tool for helping others achieve their recovery goals and competency.

Provide encouragement, support, and hope during the recovery journey.

Promote personal responsibility, empowerment, and self-determination.

Assist in the development and teaching of problem-solving techniques.

Assist in identifying patient strengths and barriers.

Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings.

Assist in promoting adherence to treatment plans.

Reinforce lessons/education regarding their mental health diagnosis, medication, legal process, and overall skill building.

Additional duties as identified by the treatment team.

Preference is given to individuals with a Peer Support Certification. Must adhere to the Certified Peer Specialist Code of Ethics.
