Position: Producer
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, in-office position located at our Baltimore, MD headquarters. Office days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Working after hours and on weekends will be required as needed to fulfill the duties of this position during busy seasons.
Travel Overnight and local day travel is anticipated and may be extended due to project requirements. Travel is estimated at 20% to 30%.
Summary Image Engineering was founded as a company that pushes boundaries, develops new ideas through design and fabrication, and is a leader in the visual display and special effects industry. We are comprised of a team of artists, engineers, event producers, fabricators, and creative thinkers.
We have worked all over the United States, completing thousands of projects in the field of creative multimedia shows for clients such as Rihanna, Jay‑Z, Tiësto, Lady Gaga, American Idol, America’s Got Talent, and multiple professional sports franchises in the NFL, NBA, and NHL. We have also created permanent and temporary interactive installations for world‑class venues including the Staples Center, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, The Smithsonian Institution, and Walt Disney World.
Our strength lies in our ability to serve the entertainment industry across the segments of sports, large‑scale one‑off productions, touring, and permanent installations by providing solutions to the most challenging problems. Our solutions are broad, utilizing a deep knowledge base and the tools of entertainment lighting, projection, lasers, and practical special effects. We design, we engineer, we plan, we produce, we build, and we expertly execute.
The Production department is at the core of our business and at the center of every project. The Production team communicates the client’s requests and needs to internal design, technical, and engineering teams. Internally, the Production team is responsible for translating needs, roadblocks, and solutions between our various departments to keep projects on track with their respective timelines and budgets.
The Producer Role Producers work as part of our fast‑paced and detail‑oriented team to deliver innovative designs and solutions for our clients. This role sits at the center of projects, connecting the Account Management, Design, Logistics, and Technician departments in all aspects of the project lifecycle. Projects range from major sporting events, concert tours, large one‑off spectaculars, special‑effects entertainment, corporate events, and permanent installation/integration projects. Creative problem solving, a desire to learn about emerging technologies, and a can‑do attitude are requirements to be successful in this role.
This position requires experience managing projects and live events with budgets ranging from $75,000 up to $500,000, from initial client contact through design, pre‑production, and onsite execution and delivery.
This role is client‑facing. Strong candidates will bring strong client and program management skills, including meticulous organizational skills; attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced and high‑stress environment.
Responsibilities
Client Management
Work with Account Manager to define project scope, milestones, and deliverables
Assist Account Manager in translating client needs into project scope, design, and delivery needs
Develop and manage overall project budget
Maintain a clear line of communication with clients on project status, progression, changes, etc.
Ensure all contract and billing processes occur in a timely fashion
Production Responsibilities
Develop, present, and manage projects
Create and maintain project documentation including contracts, invoices, budgets, production schedules, run of shows, purchase orders, site plans, and production briefs
Work with clients to define and translate needs into project scope
Partner with cross‑functional teams to manage the project lifecycle from the client’s initial conception and design/rendering through project execution
Collaborate with creative, fabrication, warehouse, and technical teams to execute project scope
Maintain a clear line of communication with clients and internal teams on project status, progression, changes, etc.
Serve as liaison between clients, Image Engineering teams, and vendors
Manage on‑site execution
Understand and manage project risk
Post‑execution reporting and processes including client debrief, internal debrief, documentation filing, final billing, and budget reconciliation
Build, develop, and grow business and vendor relationships
Coordinate and confirm crew as necessary for projects
Deliver high‑quality and impactful service to clients
Keep leadership well‑informed as to the status of event support efforts

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience in event project management or production as a lead project manager/producer or similar role
Motivation as a self‑starter to manage own workload, self‑direction, and problem‑solving with minimal oversight
Experience leading projects with estimated values from $75,000 to $500,00
Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail and multitasking
Ability to lead teams in high‑stress, fast‑paced environments
Working knowledge of, or ability to learn, entertainment industry technologies
High emotional intelligence, utilized to communicate differently and effectively with clients, internal team members, contract employees, and external vendors
Computer skills: macOS, Microsoft Office Suite—especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Experience in event planning, event production, live sports game‑day production, or theater is a plus
