Therapeutic Instructor (Behavior Technician) There is nothing more rewarding than knowing you are making a difference in the life of a child. As a clinical instructor at FirstSteps, you will help young learners develop their first words and sentences, build friendships, succeed in early classrooms, and ultimately develop a love of learning.

Responsibilities

Receive extensive in‑person training, including classroom teaching paired with direct observation of a trainer working with children and modeling teaching strategies discussed.

Gradually begin to run treatment sessions under trainer support, progressing to independent work with assigned children.

Complete all training and support needed to meet the requirements of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) and sit for, and pass, the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) exam, fully sponsored and paid by FirstSteps.

Be placed on 2–5 treatment teams, each dedicated to providing exceptional 1:1 ABA intervention to individual children as prescribed and monitored by a FirstSteps Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Work with assigned children in a variety of settings, including schools, homes, and FirstSteps Learning Center.

Complete objective clinical documentation of each client’s daily progress and develop data‑analysis skills necessary to determine optimal program progression.

Regularly participate in clinical meetings where treatment progress and plans are reviewed and updated.

Health & Safety Requirements

Proof of childhood vaccinations and non‑reactive Tuberculosis results.

Reliable transportation, a valid California driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance.

Willingness and ability to lift up to 50 lbs, sit on floors or child‑sized furniture, and move from seated to running stance when needed.

Location

North Los Angeles and Ventura County (Calabasas, Simi Valley, Moorpark, Reseda, Thousand Oaks, Woodland Hills).

Pay Range Valued hourly rate: $20–$23, determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, education, and certifications.
