Schedule 22:30 PM - 07:00 AM
Summary The role is responsible for assisting in maintaining the safety and security of the Rochester Regional Health facilities, under supervision. The trainee will learn and demonstrate the duties of a full security officer, including performing security patrols, answering security calls, conducting initial investigations, and responding to emergencies. The role emphasizes customer service and teamwork, and the trainee will receive on-the-job training in all essential security functions.
Responsibilities
Complete required security training, certifications, and shadowing to learn hospital policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.
Assist with patrols, access control, CCTV monitoring, incident response, and emergency drills while gaining hands‑on experience.
Identify and report hazards, participate in fire safety checks, and support patient and visitor safety initiatives.
Prepare clear, accurate incident and activity reports while learning investigatory and documentation practices.
Uphold hospital values, demonstrate integrity, and work collaboratively under guidance to develop into a fully independent Security Officer.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
NYS Security Guard License within 90 days of hire.
Valid NYS Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications
Strong interest in safety and security, public safety, or law enforcement.
Excellent communication skills and a customer‑focused attitude.
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in high‑stress or emergency situations.
Demonstrated interest in security, safety, or law enforcement.
Physical Requirements Medium work, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
