Practical Nursing Instructor

Meridian Technology Center is seeking a Practical Nursing Instructor to lead and support our practical nursing program, providing both classroom instruction and clinical supervision to adult students.
Qualifications
Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Oklahoma.
Minimum of two years full‑time equivalent experience as a registered nurse in a clinical setting prior to first employment as a nursing faculty member.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing required; associate degree or diploma in nursing in Oklahoma with evidence of continued progress toward a baccalaureate or higher degree (at least six semester hours per year). A master’s degree is preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively with area healthcare agencies, student populations, and the Practical Nursing Coordinator.
Responsibilities
Assist in developing and facilitating curriculum updates to provide practical nursing students with marketable job skills.
Lead and facilitate theory and clinical courses as assigned within the nursing curriculum.
Collaborate with the Practical Nursing Coordinator and cooperating agencies to plan and implement clinical experiences across shifts.
Provide summative and formative evaluations of students and maintain progress documentation in the learning management system.
Advise assigned students, monitoring and mentoring their progression throughout enrollment.
Supervise practical nursing students in clinical settings, ensuring proper nursing and facility procedures.
Participate in planning meetings of the Practical Nursing business and education committee, providing input on curriculum relevance and equipment.
Attend faculty meetings scheduled by the Practical Nursing Coordinator.
Maintain continuous contact with businesses and industries employing practical nurses; gather information on new techniques and equipment; seek employment for graduates.
Comply with Meridian Technology Center Board of Education policies and assist administration with student conduct procedures.
Join and participate in professional and civic organizations.
Attend staff meetings called by the Superintendent, Director of Instruction, and the Practical Nursing Coordinator.
Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and monitor use of inventory to prevent loss or damage.
Utilize work time efficiently on campus or in clinical facilities.
Promote Meridian Technology Center, its programs, and employees; actively recruit and promote the Practical Nursing program.
Maintain up‑to‑date equipment in the Practical Nursing program.
Support students in professional student organizations to develop leadership skills.
Assist students in securing employment after satisfactory program completion.
Report maintenance needs for machines to the Practical Nursing Coordinator.

Perform other duties as assigned by senior leadership.
Physical Demands
Occasionally lift items weighing 25 lb or more, or push items up to 50 lb on a dolly or cart.
Reach, pull, bend, stoop, and kneel to use equipment and move patients.
Walk, stand, and handle stressful situations while supervising students in the clinical setting.
Maintain adequate vision (or corrected vision) for reading and writing.
Use fine motor skills and hand/eye coordination to operate equipment and provide patient care demonstrations (e.g., catheter insertion, medication administration, instrument handling).
Hear and communicate with others in person, via telephone, or through digital communication devices.
Accurately assess, monitor, and administer care in conjunction with students.
Travel to various communities for industry visits.
Travel to Meridian’s South Campus in Guthrie, OK, for occasional nursing instruction.
Work Hours The successful candidate may choose a schedule of four 10‑hour days (Monday‑Thursday) or five 8‑hour days (Monday‑Friday). Additional evening or weekend hours may be required to meet program objectives.
Standards of Performance The Practical Nursing Instructor will be evaluated on the responsibilities listed above to determine satisfactory compliance. These evaluations will inform salary increases and career advancement opportunities.

Salary Commensurate with experience.
