Full-Time Job Summary
The Parks Maintenance Supervisor oversees and assists with the maintenance, repair, and construction of City parks, ball fields, the City cemetery, and Park and Recreation facilities. This position provides daily supervision, training, and hands‑on support to maintenance staff. Assigns, assists, and monitors maintenance staff and work crews. Trains employees on equipment, safety procedures, and department policies. Performs and supervises park, ball field, and facility maintenance. Completes construction and repair work, including concrete, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and roofing tasks. Performs turf and ball field maintenance, including mowing, lining, dragging, and dirt work. Conducts welding and equipment repairs as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of construction, building maintenance, and ball field maintenance. Supervisory and employee training skills. Ability to operate welders, backhoes, and front‑end loaders. Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work is performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions. Requires lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, using tools, and performing physical labor. Supervisory Responsibility
Direct supervision of Park Maintenance Technicians and part‑time maintenance staff. Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED. Valid Alabama driver’s license and insurable driving record. Must be able to obtain CPR. Three (3) years as a Park Maintenance Technician I or II
or
five (5) years in a related field, including three (3) years in a supervisory role. Ability to obtain AFO, CPSI, and CPR certifications within required timeframes. Pre‑Employment Requirements
Medical exam and drug screening. Background check (criminal history, motor vehicle report, and credit check). Authorization to work in the United States.
