PRN Speech Language Pathologist (Inpatient & Outpatient) Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation is seeking PRN Speech Language Pathologists for our Inpatient and Outpatient programs. We are looking for individuals with a flexible schedule who desire to serve on a team dedicated to quality patient care. Our PRN staff serve patients on inpatient rehabilitation units, subacute units, and our outpatient program (downtown Chattanooga, Cleveland, Hixson, Ringgold, and East Brainerd). The speech‑language pathologist provides evaluation and treatment for speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders as needed. They are responsible for inpatient, outpatient (on and off‑site), subacute services as assigned. They are expected to assist in general program development, to be actively involved in continuing education, and to know and adhere to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures and the standards outlined in the Code of Ethics of ASHA. This position serves all ages, groups, and diagnostic categories. Come join our team and make a difference in our patients' lives.

Minimum Qualifications or Equivalents

CPR Certification through American Heart Association

Certificate for Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA

Tennessee license in Speech‑Language Pathology

Skills & Competencies

Must demonstrate good judgment and appropriate respect for persons with a variety of disabilities and challenging behaviors

Must meet competency requirements during the first 30 days of employment for the evaluation and treatment of communication disorders, cognition, and dysphagia

Must meet other competency requirements such as interpretation of modified barium/videofluoroscopic swallow studies

Physical Requirements

Ability to frequently push/pull more than 50 pounds/objects (wheelchairs and patients), and to frequently lift light objects ( Ability to manipulate tasks such as using computers/audiometers and writing notes and reports

Requires adequate coordination to maneuver patient into appropriate position in office/patient room

Must be able to sit for prolonged periods during individual sessions and stand for prolonged periods during group sessions, and assume uncomfortable positions during treatment sessions

Mental Requirements

Conceptualization – ability to understand and relate theories behind several related concepts

Flexibility – use of patience and diplomacy during interaction with diverse personalities of patients, family members, staff and visitors

Excellent reading comprehension, written and oral communication skills

Environmental & Working Conditions

May be exposed to radiation during modified barium/videofluoroscopic swallow studies

May be exposed to body fluids or infectious diseases during therapy

May be exposed to hazardous chemicals used in cleaning equipment

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $50.00 per hour
