Guest Service Manager

The Guest Service Manager is responsible for the food and beverage service throughout the facility, including the main dining room, room service, Herb Garden, SNF, Heartwood, the Pines, Shadow Woods, meetings and events/catering. The individual is accountable for the service staff and the quality and consistency of service provided and will train, schedule, and manage staff to meet the current and changing needs of Bethany residents, families, and external events.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Food and Beverage Director and Kitchen Manager to provide appropriate food service assistance and operational support.
Ensure menu execution and delivery are consistent with typical restaurant models, monitor front‑of‑house service for timeliness, presentation, and satisfaction.
Directly responsible for the quality of service provided, oversee dining staff in all campus‑wide areas, and maintain a constant on‑floor presence with table touches.
Use information from staff, resident, and family polls to enhance food service operations.
Host, serve tables, expedite food, and perform all duties in a courteous and professional manner.
Apply accepted nutritional standards and facility policies, demonstrate understanding of special diets, and ensure quality standards are met.
Verify resident information daily (new admissions, hospitalizations, diet orders, room/unit changes, census, preferences, meal outings, special events, birthdays) and communicate it to staff.
Respect the rights, dignity, and individuality of each resident; act as a role model for staff and resolve resident concerns promptly.
Interact with facility staff, residents, families, vendors, and government agencies with high interpersonal skills and enforce proper procedures.
Coordinate and supervise employees, maintain accurate portion control, appearance, and temperature control.
Handle, prepare, label, store, and dispose of all food according to HAACP and department policies; clean and sanitize workstations before and after prep.
Maintain detailed cleaning of all dining areas and equipment as per side‑work sheets.
Conduct random inspections of service equipment and report issues to Maintenance and the Food and Beverage Director.
Assist with planning, setup, and service of special functions and catered events, meeting high‑quality demands.
Assist the Kitchen Manager with tasks when necessary and perform all other duties assigned by the Food and Beverage Director.
What You Bring
Five years of relevant experience, three of which are in management positions.
High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary or hospitality management degree preferred.
ServeSafe certified, or ability to attain certification within 90 days of hire.
Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills with basic math.
Ability to carry out all assigned tasks, duties, and instructions – physically and mentally – in accordance with facility mission, philosophy, and department goals.
General staffing knowledge and an understanding of the needs of the elderly.
