Obtains and verifies information with patients and coordinates daily scheduling of patients, primarily at the main campus locations.

**Essential Functions*** Reviews the referrals for completeness of information necessary to process referral as per policy and procedure set by Management.* Contacts physician offices to obtain additional information on patient, if necessary.* Responsible for contacting patients to obtain demographic and insurance information.* Responsible for verifying insurance coverage via eligibility computer system to determine available benefits.* Responsible for contacting via telephone insurance carriers or electronic eligibility to obtain necessary insurance benefits information.* Responsible for pre-authorization/pre-admission requirements of insurance carriers prior to the start of care.* Responsible for clerical support as the need arises.* Performs any other duty at the request of Management.* Demonstrates the ability to communicate with pediatric, adolescent, young adult and geriatric patients and visitors.* Practices Standard Precautions. Follows regulations, policies and guidelines on the prevention of infections; does not eat or drink in patient care areas.* Maintains confidentiality of information; abides by HIPAA regulations.* Maintains a professional image and follows Hospital’s policy on uniforms; consistently wears hospital ID.* Demonstrates reliable, on-time attendance, which is an essential function of all jobs at Burke.* Completes mandatory annual learning (Learning Harbor) within deadline.* Personally adheres to Burke C.A.R.E.S. philosophy by demonstrating compassion, accountability, respect and exceeding expectations through service excellence.* Performs other job related duties as assigned.**Qualifications*** High school diploma* Previous experience in a medical office environment Preferred* Heavy telephone contact with physicians, clinical staff and patients.* Must be able to communicate with diplomacy and tact at all times.* Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.* Knowledge of medical terminology helpful.* Flexible and able to easily adapt to a variety of situations.* Strong proficiency in computer usage, and well as excellent written and verbal communication skills, is required.* Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.The Burke Rehabilitation Hospital is an equal employment opportunity employer.
