Opportunity Title Public Relations Coordinator
Reports To Assistant Director of Communications
Salary or Hourly Salary
Salary Range $45,000-$50,000
Detailed Description & Responsibilities The following responsibilities describe the general nature of work for employees in this position, but this is not intended as an exclusive or all-inclusive inventory.
Assist the Assistant Director of Communications to help oversee all public relations efforts for Newfields
Write and distribute press releases, media alerts and corresponding press materials for exhibitions, programs and other Newfields initiatives
Maintain strong relationships with key media contacts
Pitch Newfields stories to local, regional, national and trade media
Manage media lists and develop strategies for targeted outreach
Host on-site media and oversee film/photography shoots and media interviews (both inside and outside of regular working hours)
Serve as the Newfields spokesperson in media interviews when needed
Prep interviewees for media when needed
Plan and organize press events for exhibitions, programming, and announcements
Report on earned media coverage to internal and external stakeholders
Manage and work with any needed contract work (i.e., media trainings, PR agency contracts, PR counsel on specific projects, etc.)
Updates local community calendars with Newfields exhibitions, programs and events
Support Assistant Director of Communications with fulfilling internal communications requests, including drafting messaging for printed materials
Represents department at internal meetings as needed

Educations and/or Experience
College degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field
Three to five years of experience preferred in PR, communications, marketing, or a related field
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Maintains professional demeanor, particularly when dealing with the public, media, board, members, donors or other important constituents
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with MuckRack or a similar media monitoring and analytics platform
