Assists professional nursing staff by supporting patient care needs such as personal hygiene and activities of daily living. Provides comfort, transportation, and vital sign monitoring. Prepares patient treatment space and equipment to ensure patient safety./ppEssential Job Duties Responsibilities:/pulliActs as a receptionist for patients, staff, and visitors./liliGreets, directs, and assists patients with directions in a prompt and polite manner./liliOperates a multiple line telephone system./liliMakes announcements in a professional manner./liliPerforms patient registration procedures accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring all demographic and payer information is correct./liliCollects and updates patient demographic information./liliVerifies insurance eligibility and updates electronic registrations appropriately./liliCompletes Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) questionnaire and other payer specific documents as required./liliReviews and signs admission paperwork with patient/patient representative./liliProvides patients/representatives copies of all signed documents as appropriate./liliFollows EMTALA guidelines when registering in the Emergency Department./liliAssist with maintenance of electronic medical records. Copies, scans, faxes, and distributes documents in a timely and appropriate manner./liliEstablish the initial chart upon admission./liliMaintain chart documents according to protocol./liliProcess charts upon dismissal, breaks down chart so available to Health Information Management (HIM) timely and accurately./liliHelp prepare records as appropriate for patient transfers and/or referrals./li/ulpNursing Assistant:/pulliExhibits excellent interpersonal relations with patients, guests, and co-workers to ensure effective communication./liliResponds to patient needs promptly and courteously./liliCommunicates patient issues to the appropriate staff./liliMaintains a positive attitude while responding to requests in a timely and accurate manner./liliActively participates in shift report process./liliUtilizes and updates patient communication board in room as indicated./liliCommunicates with other members of the health care team as indicated./liliAssists other team members with care for other assigned patients as needed./liliCompletes activities as identified in the patients plan of care and as delegated by professional staff to meet patient comfort, activity, sleep, and clinical needs./liliProvides personal care and assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs)./liliAssures patient hydration and nutrition needs are met by assisting with meal trays, nourishment, and feeding./liliObtains vital signs, intake and output, and weights, and records with accuracy. Reports results to appropriate personnel./liliAssists with ambulation, lifting and positioning according to facility procedure, including the appropriate use of patient lift devices and use of good body mechanics./liliProvides safe transportation for patients by wheelchair, cart and/or ambulation./liliCollects sputum, urine and stool specimens. Correctly instructs the patient on proper specimen collection technique(s)./liliParticipates as a member of the team in Hourly Patient Rounds to proactively address patient needs./liliReports any observations and/or symptoms indicative of change in patient status, adverse reaction to treatments to the patients nurse in a prompt manner./liliDocuments all patient data collected in the electronic health record and/or on worksheets accurately, completely, and in a timely manner./liliContributes to a safe, effective, and sanitary patient care environment./liliKeeps room neat, tidy, and free of clutter./liliRemoves trash and soiled linen from rooms each shift and as needed./liliCompletes room cleaning according to established procedures as needed./liliUtilizes Standard Precautions and infection control guidelines correctly and consistently./liliPrepares patient care areas and equipment to facilitate patient care and treatment./liliPrepares rooms and medical equipment for use./liliRestocks and distributes patient care supplies and clean linens as needed./liliMaintains knowledge of location for needed equipment and supplies./liliReports equipment needing repairs./liliCleans and stores equipment when no longer needed./liliAssists in maintaining organization in storage areas./liliPerforms other duties as assigned./li/ulpHours: Minimum 24 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 6:00am-6:30pm, rotating weekends/ppRequired Experience:/pulliEducation, Experience:/liliHigh school diploma or equivalent/liliPrevious patient access experience preferred/liliPrevious nurse aide experience preferred/li/ulpCertificates, Licensure, Registrations:/pulliNurse Aide Certification preferred/liliBLS (Basic Life Support)/li/ulpGeneral Requirements:/pulliAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide/liliAbility to generate, read, interpret, and take action as it relates to basic financial statements, national and state regulations, safety rulings, operational and maintenance and organizational policies / procedures/liliAbility to write reports and correspondence/liliAbility to effectively present information to patients, families, employees, health care providers, etc.../liliAbility to work cooperatively and communicate effectively to maintain good working relationships with staff and health care providers/liliAbility to work with skill in identifying problems/li/ulpEquipment, Tools, Materials:/pulliKnowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions./li/ul/div
