Washroom Operator Vestis Corporation – Tyler, TX

Overview Performs work as part of a team in an industrial laundry facility. Responsible for the safe, expeditious, and accurate handling of merchandise into and out of the laundry facility.

Responsibilities Checks all machine safety devices before operating equipment and records and signs the appropriate equipment safety form. If a machine does not pass the safety inspection, the operator will not operate the unit and notifies the supervisor. When loading a washer, the operator retrieves a sling from storage and maneuvers it to the washer’s rails and in front of the washer. If loading a dryer, the operator obtains an extracted sling from the overhead feed rail and verifies each batch ticket to avoid mixing lots and batches. The operator stages similar batches together for maximum product/wash utilization and positions the washer/dryer in proper loading position (tilted up). The operator removes the batch ticket, loads the washer/dryer by untying the bottom cord of the sling, forces the items into the washer/dryer cylinder, closes the washer/dryer doors, lowers the washer/dryer to the horizontal position, selects the appropriate washer/dryer formula, and starts the machine. The operator takes the batch ticket and writes the ticket information on the washer/dryer form visually displayed by the machine. For a washer, the operator enters the weight off the batch ticket into SOFTROL; for a dryer, the operator re‑ties the sling and transports to the hoist staging area. Unloading a washer involves opening the washer door, tilting the washer forward, moving the lined cart with a clean sling, and removing items from the washer into the cart, placing batch tickets on top of the items, moving the cart to the sling raise area, and tilting the washer back into load position. Unloading a dryer involves opening the front door, ensuring the items are at the proper moisture levels (if not, re‑dry), raising the front end of the dryer, moving to the rear of the machine, opening the rear door, placing the appropriate tub at the dryer opening, removing items from the dryer, placing batch ticket on top of items, storing in the appropriate area, closing the rear door, and leaving the dryer in tilted position to aid in loading. The operator verifies proper moisture retention of items, ensures carts/tubs are not overloaded, load items are at proper temperature, all extracted slings are free of excessive water, and all items are properly cooled down. The operator identifies any slings with rips or tears and removes them from the system. The operator maintains a safe and clean work environment and observes best practices in all production activities. Other duties as assigned.
