A law firm seeks a Criminal Defense Trial Lawyer to join their team in Wichita, Kansas. The role involves providing dedicated legal representation to clients, with a focus on trial advocacy and strategic defense planning.
Duties
Conduct thorough reviews and investigations of clients' cases and applicable laws. Travel to various courtrooms across the state for hearings and trials. Perform scene investigations independently or with private investigators. Research and draft pleadings, motions, trial briefs, and legal memoranda. Prepare for trials from the outset, including mock trials and strategic planning. Engage in trial advocacy, representing clients before judges and juries. Requirements
Juris Doctor (JD) and active membership in the Kansas bar or eligibility to join. Strong commitment to practicing criminal defense. Willingness to reside in Wichita, Kansas. Education
Juris Doctor (JD) Certifications
Active membership in the Kansas bar or ability to waive in. Skills
Excellent research and writing abilities. Strong trial advocacy and strategic planning skills. Ability to work collaboratively and independently. Opportunities for career development. Paid attendance to the National Criminal Defense College Trial Practice Institute. Paid membership in the National Association of Criminal Defense Trial Lawyers (NACDL).
