District Behavior Coach

K-12 District Behavior Coach
Supervised by/Reports to: Director of Special Education/Student Services Coordinator FLSA Status: Exempt Job Goals: The behavior coach will lead efforts across the district to provide positive social-emotional learning environments, provide coaching to teachers to prevent and manage behaviors, provide coaching to teachers to implement positive behavior intervention plans and best practices, assist the special education department in effective implementation of district wide initiatives, programs, and curriculum to improve classroom instruction and student achievement that is adversely effected by behavior and emotional challenges. Qualifications: Valid teaching certification and/or certification in the field of Special Education required. Masters Degree preferred. Extensive experience as a lead teacher/mentor and experience in working with students who exhibit challenging behaviors, as well as, strong knowledge of IDEA regulations and requirements required. Coursework toward BCBA, BCaBA, and/or RBT preferred. Non-Violent Crisis Prevention training required. Positive Behavior Intervention and Support training required. Discreet Trial and Applied Behavior Analysis Training required. Evidence of strong ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data from multi-disciplinary input. Evidence of successful training of adult learners in the area of positive behavior instructional support. Evidence of strong interpersonal skills. Evidence of strong written communication and presentation skills. Evidence of strong planning and organizational skills. Experience in mentoring/coaching teachers preferred. A strong commitment to team collaboration. Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Provides positive behavior intervention and support coaching to teachers utilizing modeling, training, related services for the purpose of creating positive social emotional learning environments and ensuring fidelity of behavior services for students. Develop interventions, functional behavior assessments and behavior plans for the purpose of providing a safe and effective educational environment for students with challenging behaviors. Develop procedures and training materials for staff involved with students with challenging behaviors for the purpose of enhancing programs for students and ensuring that program operations are in compliance with established guidelines. Conducts workshops, training, in-service presentations in positive behavior intervention for the purpose of developing skills and establishing effective relationships with behaviorally or emotionally challenged students. Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops and committees for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions and remaining knowledgeable with program guidelines. Acts as liaison with the public, social services and mental health community for the purpose of supporting individual student development goals. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands to finger, to handle, or feel objects, equipment, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, squat, and crouch and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull carry and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Salary: Salary to be established by The Limestone County School's District Salary Schedule.
