A boutique operations-focused consulting firm is seeking a Managing Director of Business Development to expand its footprint across the Industrial Manufacturing sector. This role is designed for a senior-level professional with the presence, network, and experience to engage executive leaders and win complex consulting engagements related to operational transformation, supply chain optimization, and cost takeout initiatives.

This is not a traditional account management role, it's a high-performance business development position targeting $500K+ consulting engagements within capital- and asset-intensive industries.

Key Responsibilities Drive new business growth within target sectors: Automotive, Aerospace & Defense, Heavy Equipment, and Consumer Product Manufacturing Identify and build relationships with C-level decision makers at mid-market to Fortune 1000 manufacturers Position the firm's consulting services across procurement, logistics, operations, and performance improvement Lead opportunity pursuit from lead identification through to contract closure Collaborate closely with internal solution teams to ensure alignment between client needs and delivery capabilities Represent the firm with credibility and confidence at the executive level

Qualifications Minimum 10 years' experience selling consulting or transformation services into industrial environments Demonstrated success closing multi-million-dollar deals in the manufacturing or engineering sectors Strong understanding of supply chain, operations, procurement, or lean manufacturing Ability to influence and communicate with executives, plant leaders, and procurement stakeholders alike Experience working within a smaller or mid-sized consulting firm is highly preferred Executive presence, strong strategic thinking, and a disciplined hunter mindset Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
