Westlake Medical Campus offers medical care close to home for routine or urgent health issues as well as outpatient surgery at the Fairview Hospital Ambulatory Surgery Center. This ASC is a friendly, safe, and competent facility in which to receive quality outpatient surgical procedures by board-certified general surgeons. Our facility has four operating suites, which encompass a broad range of surgical services, and we are proud of our workplace and newly remodeled environment. In this role as a Surgical Technologist, you will perform a variety of tasks, such as checking supplies and equipment, setting up sterile tables, passing instruments to the surgeon and sterilizing instruments after procedures. This position offers a unique way to gain hands-on experience in an operative environment while making a lasting difference in the lives of patients and caregivers every day. Ultimately, surgery could not be possible without your support. A caregiver in this position works days from 5:45 AM

"closing", which can vary anywhere from 3:30PM-5:00PM. ** Relocation Assistance Available for Eligible Candidates ** A caregiver who excels in this role will: Perform scrub functions and assist in circulating functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN).

Set up the sterile table and ensure appropriate supplies, drugs and equipment are available.

Assist RN in counting all sponges, instruments, etc. at appropriate times during surgery.

Assist in gowning and gloving surgical team members and draping patients.

Ensure aseptic condition is maintained by the scrubbed surgical team through the procedure.

Participate in the intraoperative "timeout."

Collect, identify and label specimens removed during surgical procedures and give specimens to circulator for disposition.

Coordinate surgical and clinical schedules and studies for section.

Answer and perform patient phone calls and relay information to/from the provider.

Assist with marketing and practice development.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Successful completion of a Surgical Technology Program accredited through CCAAHEP or ABHES OR Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certified Tech in Surgery (TS-C) through the National Center for Competency Training (NCCT) OR completion of a military Surgical Technology Program

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)

Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing > than 75 pounds periodically.

Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Requires working under stressful conditions of working irregular hours.

Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work
