Magna Steyr USA is looking for talented and experienced team members in complete vehicle development who are determined and passionate about developing the next level industry standard for vehicle architectures and production solutions. In the Interiors discipline, the Senior Engineer is responsible for leading the engineering activities relating to the design and development of the vehicle Interior system. This position has a high level of responsibility and visibility and will interface with OEMs, Magna divisions, global module group teams, and Tier 2 suppliers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Responsibility
Contribute to the Technical Area strategy and growth of the engineering team Support Technical Area core competencies Support and contribute to knowledge base of internal and external best practices Lead benchmarking studies and contribute to the benchmark knowledgebase Propose and lead advanced development topics supporting the technical area Propose continuous improvement opportunities to level up team skills, qualifications, tools and processes Lead design proposals with set-based engineering principles Lead designs with 6 Sigma design principles Support complex problem solving with cross functional teams Project Planning, Target Achievement, Monitoring & Reporting
Employ technical expertise to lead the engineering development of one or more subsystems Support the project team(s) engineering in achieving project objectives, performance and cost requirements, and timing milestones Lead external support, services and resources supporting the project engineering development Support work development packages assigned to third parties Confirm OEM and Magna project performance targets and assure the targets are achievable Confirm OEM and Magna project cost and timing targets and assure the targets are achievable Support the Project Manager (PM) and contribute to the project resource planning, budget development, and status reporting Be responsible for the release of Computer Aided Design (CAD) data into internal and external sites Be responsible for the release of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), simulations and studies into internal or external sites Be responsible for designs capable of meeting the serial production tact, First Time Quality (FTQ) and ergo targets Be responsible for designs meeting the project performance and cost targets Be responsible for designs meeting market region regulations, FMVSS, ECE, CNCA/GB, etc. Confirm the Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) comprehends all project targets and is complete Confirm the project Design Failure Mode and Effects and Analysis (DFMEA) comprehends all product risks and product usage cases Project Related Interface
Support and Promote Project and Operations Collaboration Lead global development touchpoint and milestone meetings Collaborate with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) to assure production feasibility Collaborate with the design studio to assure product appearance harmony Collaborate with all cross functions to make complex decisions Collaborate with the Technical Area Head to assure concurrent best practice sharing Collaborate with the other project technical staff Employee Related Tasks
Ensure cooperation with all areas within the engineering and request the required frame conditions Ensure cooperation with project management Ensure cooperation with all other groups within the area Secure knowledge of development tools within the group Ensure training of employees according to the required skills Cooperation with all Magna Steyr locations Escalation problems at the earliest time with the appropriate team members Qualifications

Education BSME Experience - 10+years Interiors development Experience in Complete Vehicle development and manufacture Experience supervising or managing technical personnel preferred Excellent communication skills and experience working with global teams Experience in launching a complete vehicle from initial concept through launch phases Experience in design release and DVP&R testing of components and assemblies Experience in thermoplastic, Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO), and Glass Filled Polypropylene (GFPP) molding Experience in Interior advanced development like Cockpit, Seat, and Trim assemblies Experience in welding thermoplastic materials, ultrasonic, laser, infrared, vibration, and multi-material Experience in cut and sew trim components along with textile development Experience in fastening, threaded fasteners, riveted fasteners, and clip retainers Experience in mold in color (MIC) class "A" interior parts Experience in RSS dimensional evaluation Experience in development of SOR/SOW along with DVP&R testing specifications Special Knowledge / Skills
Proficient computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) Computer knowledge and skills in CAD, Teamcenter, and CAE simulation preferred Six Sigma certification preferred Professional communication skills (written and verbal) Physical Demands / Work Environment
Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer May require local, domestic, and international travel
