Position Summary:
The MRM Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring the quality, consistency, and compliance of ready mixed concrete and aggregates produced by Massachusetts Ready Mix. This role performs routine plant and field testing, inspections, and documentation to verify materials meet applicable job specifications, Department of Transportation requirements, and industry standards.
Responsibilities:
Comply with (and actively promote) all Safety policies and procedures including reporting all accidents, incidents and near misses to ensure adherence to our Number One Core Value – Safety, first in everything we do.
Ensure concrete produced at MRM facilities meets approved mix designs and specification requirements, with a primary focus on Massachusetts Department of Transportation concrete mixes
Perform daily plant and field testing of concrete, working closely with field superintendents and engineers to verify compliance and prevent material rejections
Adjust air content and slump in the field and communicate required chemical or water adjustments to plant personnel
Serve as a point of contact between customers, engineers, batch/dispatch teams, and concrete sales regarding quality-related matters
Conduct routine sampling and testing of aggregates and concrete in accordance with applicable job specifications and standards
Perform testing including, but not limited to, gradations, slump, air content, and fabrication of compressive strength samples
Maintain accurate, timely, and traceable quality control documentation and test records
Ensure product compliance with Massachusetts and New Hampshire Department of Transportation guidelines
Maintain inventory of quality control testing equipment and supplies
Work independently within a routine schedule while effectively prioritizing daily responsibilities
Follow all OSHA and MSHA regulations, as well as company policies and procedures
Work safely and collaboratively with operations, plant, and field personnel
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Associate degree (A.A./A.S.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
Four to six years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I (Required)
ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician – Level I (Required)
NETTCP Concrete Technician (Preferred)
