Job Title: Automation Quality Engineer (HW/SW)
Location: Austin, TX or Cupertino/Sunnyvale, CA
Job Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Stability Quality Engineer to join our team and ensure the delivery of top-tier personal computing devices. This role is 100% onsite and plays a vital role from early development stages through product release, providing critical insights and quality testing for both hardware and software components. You will work closely with cross‑functional engineering and QA teams, focusing on the development and execution of system stability tests. You will identify and troubleshoot hardware‑centric software risks while running automation across a large fleet of test systems.
Key Responsibilities
Manage racks of systems to run a variety of stress and stability tests.
Write, develop, and execute automated test scripts using Python, Ruby, Swift, or JavaScript.
Identify, reproduce, and isolate hardware/software bugs.
Report issues using standard bug tracking tools and methodologies.
Design on‑the‑fly automated tests targeting embedded system stability.
Perform root‑cause analysis of issues down to the hardware component level.
Present testing results and risk assessments to engineering leadership and executives.
Mentor and train peers on technical skill areas as needed.
Key Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years in hardware/software test engineering.
Deep understanding of processor instruction set architectures and microarchitectures.
Experience with pre‑ or post‑silicon hardware.
Strong Unix knowledge and shell scripting skills.
Proven experience in hardware systems debugging and automation testing.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with UI‑level automation and test script development.
