We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7, full time Lead CNS for Stroke to join the service here at Worcester Royal Hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and dedicated leader to join our stroke team to support the provision of specialist treatment and care for patients immediately following a stroke. Please note this post requires 7 day working including night working. This post will have responsibilities for managing the team of 10 Stroke CNS's. Role Dimensions: StaffManagement /Senior Linemanager for Band 6 Stroke CNS team. Maintain and ensure a workable 24/7 roster. Manage anyperformance or sickness in line with trust policy. Provideleadership and direction to the CNS team. Ongoingservice development and education ofstaff working within stroke medicine. Driveimprovements in SSNAP audit. Provide support with stroke governance. Undertakesroles formally/normally undertaken by medical staff. Working autonomously to order tests andinvestigations. Communicatesdiagnosis and results of investigations and treatment plan to patient andrelatives. Works insupport/alongsidemedical staff Lead onembedding new technology into work place ie video triage. One to oneteaching with medical staff, nurses andtherapists ona daily basis About us

To provide a service working within the Clinical Nurse Specialist nursing team within the speciality of stroke. Manages a caseload. Acting as a link with the Worcestershire Health Community, in particular the Community Stroke Team, to ensure timely and appropriate transfer of care in a managed way. Internal Hospital Consultants and their medical teams. All nursing staff throughout the trust, particularly the Stroke Unit Occupational Therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists Other members of the multi-professional team such as pharmacist Patients, carers and relatives Support staff Clinical Nurse Specialists Social Care External Community Stroke Team Nurses working in the community and for other organisations General Practitioners and members of their multi-professional teams Professionals and carers working in the community including residential settings Patients, carers and relatives attending the outpatient setting and for ongoing support following discharge from hospital Voluntary agencies Person Specification

Qualifications

Registered Nurse First level registration Diploma Evidence of Post-registration Stroke related study First Degree in clinically relevant subject/be willing to work towards a Degree Teaching qualification/ be willing to work towards Health Assessment qualification Nurse prescriber Experience

Recent and relevant experience in Stroke care Working within a multidisciplinary team Experience and training of staff Involvement in clinical audit/research Evidence of advanced clinical assessment/decision making and care delivery skills Disclosure and Barring Service Check
