Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development.
5 years of experience building and developing infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
5 years of experience testing and launching software products.
3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
5 years of experience in systems‑level engineering (e.g., device drivers, OS kernels, firmware).
3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
3 years of experience working in a matrixed organization involving cross‑functional or cross‑business projects.
About the Job Google’s software engineers develop next‑generation technologies that connect billions of users. We build large‑scale systems that handle massive data and extend beyond web search. This role focuses on virtualized hardware experience for customers running guest operating systems on Google Compute Engine (GCE). Responsibilities span the virtualization stack, device drivers for the guest OS, and related tooling.
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership on high‑impact projects.
Influence and coach a distributed team of engineers.
Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.
Design and develop new features to enhance the performance and functionality of guest operating systems running on GCE.
Compensation US base salary range: $197,000‑$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Base salary is separate from bonus, equity, and benefits. Learn more about benefits at Google.
