Save Job

What to Expect Connectivity is an integral part of all Tesla cars. It enhances the driving experience by providing access to features that require wireless data usage. Antenna Team at Tesla is seeking a Staff Antenna Design Engineer to support antenna product development activities that cover a significant portion of the radio frequency spectrum from 100s of kHz to 10s of GHz. The successful candidate will utilize the knowledge of current systems, available technologies, and engineering judgment to propose and design next generation antenna systems for Robotics, Infotainment, Low Voltage and Autopilot features. An exceptional antenna engineer should have a strong Electromagnetics background and apply first principles-based approach for the design, integration, test, and production of custom antenna solutions in a fast-paced product development environment. The ideal candidate should have strong hands‑on work experience with current 3D antenna simulation tools, system‑level RF front‑end architectures, multi‑radio co‑existence, RF de‑sense assessment and optimization, and RF link budget calculations. He/she will work closely with cross‑functional teams and support other engineering teams to achieve quality and schedule targets. This engineer must thrive in a start‑up company environment with great opportunities for growth and spectacular achievement.

What You'll Do

Design, simulation, development, integration, and test of highly integrated custom antenna solutions

Component and platform level 3D EM antenna/EM simulations

Multi-radio co-existence performance and link budget analysis per radio

RF de-sense optimization with schematics, PCBA, and antenna integration with close-by components

Simulation and prototyping of passive and active antenna topologies using a representative platform

OTA and/or systems level measurements to support LTE MIMO, Wi‑Fi MIMO, BT and UWB antenna development

Lead with suppliers on the design, testing and mass production of new antenna solutions

Work with mechanical, RF, EMC, electrical, harness, material, reliability, vehicle/robot integration, and production engineers to create best‑in‑class integrated custom antenna solutions

Provide antenna team input to the project and factory teams on schedules, issues, and deliverables

Communicate engineering requirements to program and supply chain managers to facilitate planning and schedule

What You'll Bring

Degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Electromagnetics or equivalent experience

7+ years of solid technical depth in advanced Electromagnetics and Antennas

Solid technical depth in advanced Electromagnetics and Antennas

Fluent with 3D EM simulation tools and coding skills to support antenna design and post‑processing

A track record of successfully bringing 5G, Wi‑Fi, UWB, and Bluetooth integrated antenna designs to market

Hands on experience conducting OTA measurements for LTE, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth and UWB including carrier certification

Experienced in creating schematics and PCB layouts using Altium or similar tools

Strong product development experience in handling de‑sense due to platform noise and co‑existence between radios
