Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8.30am - 1.00pm each day, and every Saturday 8.00am - 12noon. The successful candidate will be responsible for running daily phlebotomyclinics. They will be required to ensureall samples that require hospital analysis are correctly labelled and logged,have the necessary completed paperwork and are ready in time for collection bythe courier. Previous experience is desirablebut not essential, as full training, support, and guidance will be provided. They must be enthusiastic and motivated, haveexcellent communication skills and work well within a team. Main duties of the job The purpose of the role is to work under the directsupervision of the Senior HCA(s) / Lead Nurse(s) and strictly in accordancewith specific practice guidelines and protocols, the post-holder will beresponsible for performing venepuncture to obtain blood samples from patients only as the result of a directreferral from a GP or Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Job responsibilities Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable andrelaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a bloodsample Collection of sample(s) of blood in accordancewith training and procedures Ensuring samples are stored in appropriatecontainers Accurate, legible labelling of all samples toconfirm patient identity Checking patient identification against GP/ANPrequest and confirming with patient whenever possible Recording collection of blood sample in patientrecord in accordance with practice procedure Accuratelydocument all consultations on the patients computer record Ensuring that samples are dispatched to theappropriate laboratories in a timely fashion Bookfollow up appointments when required Actas chaperone for doctors when required GeneralTreatment room assistance as required Toobtain and document informed consent (either verbal or written) Ensurethat infection control guidelines are maintained Workas a member of the wider practice team Manageand organise individual patient consultations Promptly report back to the senior HCA any anomalies, incidents, complaints, accidents, significant patient issuesetc Person Specification Skills and Knowledge Good interpersonal skills Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to put patients as ease Good keyboard, IT skills, literate with Microsoft Word and Outlook Understanding of medical terminology Knowledge of infection control policies Understanding of EMIS Qualifications Demonstrates a good standard of written and spoken English Minimum of 3 GCSEs or equivalent Grade C4 or above Personal Attributes Adaptability and flexibility Accuracy Ability to work under pressure Trustworthy and reliable To be caring and have a warm and friendly nature Hold a full driving licence - car owner Experience Ability to work as part of a team Ability to work independently under the supervision of the Senior HCA and Lead Nurse Previous experience in venepuncture Ability to take blood samples within agreed procedures Experience in Primary Care Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
