oversees mental health law enforcement. Position: Investigator (Permanent, Full‑time). Location: Sacramento County. Telework: In Office.
Salary
A: $6,339.00 - $8,558.00; B: $7,306.00 - $10,609.00; C: $6,818.00 - $9,428.00. New State candidates hired at the minimum salary of the classification.
Job Duties
Investigate criminal and administrative employee misconduct at the Department of State Hospitals and the Department of Developmental Services.
Utilize law‑enforcement databases to obtain police, court, and medical reports.
Prepare detailed investigative reports; evidence may support legal action.
Perform the full range of peace‑officer duties in accordance with California Penal Code §830.3(v).
Qualifications
California Peace Officer Standard and Training BASIC Certificate required; include a copy.
Valid California Driver’s License.
Background investigation clearance, medical clearance, and psychological evaluation clearance must be obtained before hire.
Minimum 4 years of experience in law enforcement or investigative work; associate degree or equivalent (Criminal Justice or related field preferred).
Knowledge of California Penal Code §830.3(v) and related statutes.
Special Requirements
Background investigation, medical clearance, and psychological evaluation required prior to appointment.
Conflict of interest code compliance; fingerprinting clearance by the Department of Justice.
