MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of a Medical Imaging Program.
Possess a current or temporary Radiography license as required by the state board where services will be provided (MD: Radiographer license through the Maryland Board of Physicians; OH: Radiographer license through the Ohio Board of Radiology; PA: No state license is required; WV: Radiography License or Temporary Radiography License through the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board).
Be nationally certified as a Registered Radiography Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) upon hire (MD: upon hire; OH: upon hire; PA: within six months of graduation from a Imaging program; WV: prior to expiration of WV temporary license).
Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
Pass a state criminal background check and Federal background check (if applicable) as required for regulated areas.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Obtain Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of hire.
Have one year of experience as an interventional radiologic technologist.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitors hemodynamic parameters and provides real‑time ECG and blood pressure monitoring during procedures.
Observes sterile technique while assembling supplies for physicians and lab personnel.
Maintains patient confidentiality under supervision.
Prepares the entry site for the procedure using sterile technique.
Advises the physician of any and all activity in an accurate and timely manner and documents procedure information for the patient’s record.
Participates in the on‑call rotation of the laboratory and remains available for emergent procedures 24 hours a day.
Acts as the laboratory’s code team by initiating resuscitative measures and defibrillation under physician supervision.
Documents all procedures, utilizes the inventory control system, and correctly bills for all procedures.
Participates in educational and in‑service opportunities.
Instructs radiography students in the clinical setting with regard to patient positioning, technique selection, manipulation of equipment, and use of accessory devices.
Maintains specialization in Neuroradiology and Vascular IR procedures.
Participates in inventory management of the department.
Checks and prepares the patient prior to procedure.
Participates in performance improvement activities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Stand for long periods while wearing lead aprons.
Lift, push, or pull a minimum of 40 pounds.
Sit for extended periods of time.
Differentiate various shades of gray as depicted on a black and white television monitor or photograph.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Clinical by nature.
Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, body fluids, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation; moderate noise level.
Maintain radiation safety.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Communicate professionally with physicians and peers.
Knowledgeable in sterile technique.
Knowledgeable in acquiring, archiving, and transmitting images to a data storage system.
Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, operating manuals, product information, or regulations.
Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Solve practical problems with limited standardization of variables.
