Coder II – MUSC Health The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is hiring a Coder II to accurately assign codes for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency service diagnoses, procedures, and conditions as indicated in the patient medical record.

Responsibilities

Assign accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes in accordance with official coding guidelines from the American Medical Association, American Hospital Association, and American Health Information Management Association.

Maintain compliance with the Health Information Management Department and MUSC-approved policies and procedures.

Review and interpret medical records to accurately code patient encounters.

Ensure coding accuracy and completeness for all service types, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency.

Qualifications

Coding credential from AHIMA and/or AAPC required.

Knowledge of ICD-10‑CM, ICD-10‑PCS, and CPT coding systems.

Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret complex medical records.

Experience with coding standards and quality metrics preferred.

Compensation Hourly rate commensurate with experience; annual range $59,300.00–$80,900.00. 40 scheduled hours per week.
