Data Engineer/Analyst- ETL/Migrations

Target Pay Rate: $70/hr - $75/hr W2 (we can not work c2c/c2h/3rd parties)
Type: Contract
Contract Length: 6 months potential extension
Location (hybrid): Jersey City, NJ 2x/week on site.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Data Analyst / ETL Specialist with strong SQL expertise and experience in Oracle and SQL Server environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with file-based data migration, ETL processes, and a solid understanding of data quality and governance frameworks. Experience with tools such as Alteryx for data preparation and automation is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and loading across Oracle and SQL Server environments
Execute and manage file-based data migrations, ensuring completeness and integrity
Perform data profiling, data quality checks, and reconciliation to support accurate reporting and analysis
Analyze data issues, investigate root causes, and work with technical and business teams to resolve discrepancies
Develop and maintain documentation for data mapping, transformation logic, and reconciliation procedures
Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure compliance with governance and regulatory standards
(Optional) Use Alteryx to automate data workflows, cleansing, and preparation for analysis or reporting
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong hands-on experience in SQL (Oracle and SQL Server)
Proven track record with ETL processes and file-based data migrations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
Experience with data quality and reconciliation techniques
Familiarity with data governance, regulatory compliance, and data privacy principles
Excellent communication and documentation skills, both written and verbal
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Preferred (Nice-to-Have)
Experience using Alteryx for workflow automation, data preparation, and cleansing
Exposure to data warehouse or data lake environments
Knowledge of reporting/visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
