Mining Technology Systems Technician

will support product application and hardware diagnostics and general support of various technology solutions, including Caterpillar MineStar, and product link.

What You'll Be Doing

Installing, configuring, and maintaining mining technology systems onboard heavy equipment.

Supporting and integrating fleet management systems like Minestar, Dispatch, Terrain, and DSS.

Performing inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting using strong analytical skills.

Providing technical support and training to on-site teams.

Collaborating with engineering and operations to improve system performance and reliability.

Managing tasks in a fast-paced environment while following safety and compliance protocols.

Diagnosing issues across a range of systems – from basic sensors to advanced control units, displays, networks, servers, and databases.

Specific Skills:

Highly computer literate and proficient in MS Office applications

Knowledge of Linux, Ubuntu Operating Systems, FTP Programs, MineStar, Thick and Thin

Client, Terrain Office, Telnet and Tyresence

Operations of Trimble Business Center and equipment

Strong communication (verbal and written) and consultative skills

Excellent analytical, risk assessment and problem-solving skills

Excellent time management, organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with attention to detail

Detail oriented and a positive self-starter able to work in a team or with minimal supervision

Knowledge:

Ability to read and understand detailed instructions and apply to practical applications

Understanding of electrical systems and schematics

Knowledge of heavy equipment operation

Knowledge of guidance and control systems (e.g., Radar, LiDAR, GPS, GNSS)

Understanding of various dispatch system hardware (e.g., Modular, Wenco, Jigsaw, Caterpillar MineStar)

Trimble products for calibrations and commissioning of autonomous systems

Understanding of As Built Drawings

Knowledge of radio network communications

Accountability:

Deliver high-quality work to support technology deployments

Installation process documentation to support future troubleshooting

Adherence to all company policies, including Code of Conduct and Safety

Adherence to expense claim policies and timely reporting

Maintain positive relationships with customers, suppliers and coworkers to meet customer satisfaction targets

Travel to customer facilities and worksites as required

Qualifications

o 5+ years of experience in a technical role involving troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair (e.g., Technician - IT, GPS, Instrumentation, Electronics, Agricultural, Heavy Equipment).

o Education or training in a related field such as Information Technology, Heavy Equipment repair, Electronics, Mechanics, etc.

o Understanding of networking principles such as Linux, SQL, Telnet or similar is an asset

o Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification is considered an asset

o Previous dispatch experience with MineStar, Jigsaw, Modular, Wenco is considered an asset

o Experience with guidance and control system applications (GPS, LiDAR, Radar) is considered an asset

o Familiarity with Caterpillar and other branded off-road equipment in a mining environment is an asset

o Valid driver\'s license

o Valid passport (or ability to obtain one upon employment)

Working Conditions

The physical environment requires working both inside (non-climate controlled) and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.

Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury and/or hazardous materials.

Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.

Physical use of tools and machines to maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment.

Must be able to lift varied weight.

Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.

Use of computer and other technology to complete job responsibilities.
