About the job Network Engineer - Level 1 PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Network engineer is a technical professional responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, supporting, and developing secure communication networks within organizations or between organizations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Detailed designing, technical consulting and implementation services. High Level Design, Low Level design and Acceptance test planning for Data Networks

Design, setup and configure Local Area Network per corporate standard

Design, setup and configure global Wide Area Network per corporate standard

Design, setup and configure wireless infrastructure to support secure private corporate and guest Internet access per corporate standard

Design, setup and configure Internet facing infrastructure (DNS, DMZ, VPN, etc.) per corporate standard

Design, setup and configure load balancers per corporate standard per corporate standard

Design, setup and configure voice, video and fax infrastructure per corporate standard

Design, setup and configure network and security infrastructure for external partners and contract manufacturers

Setup and administrate security appliances including firewall, VPN and reverse proxy

Maintain software applications and operating systems to support regular network operations including DNS, DHCP, WINS, IPAM and Monitoring

Define and document system standards with written procedures, processes, engineering drawings and other technical documents

Monitor and support multi-regions (including Cloud) network operations (DHCP, DNS, switches, routers, etc)

Troubleshoot and diagnose network, voice and security related issues

Evaluate vendors, processes and technologies to improve quality and efficiency of IT infrastructure

Collaborate with users to capture system requirements and propose network solutions to meet user requirements

Capacity monitoring (Utilization, QoS, IP allocation, Port density, etc.), diagnostic and recommend remediation

Coordinate and scheduling outage for upgrade and patch management

Design and propose new solutions to improve performance and resiliency of current environment

Manage small projects to integrate new network designs into production

Provide inputs and guidance in development of new technologies and solutions

Support for network performance management

Network analysis, integration, and tuning

Configuration of network devices

Support for a variety of network devices, to include – Firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers and WAPs

Support all preventative and emergency maintenance activities

Support problem management efforts, to include development of Root Cause Analysis documentation and resolution

Provide support for any network-related projects to include router/switch upgrades, circuit upgrades

Maintain and audit asset inventory

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in IT Computer related field preferred or 3 years of relevant experience

Skills:

Understanding of OSI and TCP/IP model (TCP, UDP, CIDR, etc.)

Understanding of LAN networking protocols (PoE, STP, EIGRP, HSRP, VLAN, etc.)

Understanding of WAN networking protocols (BGP, PBR, MPLS, etc.)

Understanding of QoS networking protocols

Understanding of Wireless 802.11 protocols (802.11b/a/g/n/ac, WPA, WEP, PEAP, etc.)

Experience with monitoring, network troubleshooting and analytics tools

Experience with Windows server and Linux operating system

Experience with managing voice infrastructure (PBX, SIP, POTS, PRI)

Experience with security operation (ACLs)

Experience with IP Address Management (DHCP, DNS)

Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills

Strong technical problem solving and analytic skills to isolate problems, recommend and implement solutions

Ability to follow tasks to completion and be dependable

Ability to work at in a fast pace environment, dealing with multiple priorities

Ability to manage projects

Ability to learn new technologies quickly

Ability to interact with team members without supervision

Demonstrate a professional business attitude when working with internal staff and external clients

Sense of urgency, initiative and competitive drive to get things done

CERTIFICATIONS:

Any of the following certifications are a plus:

CompTIA A+

CompTIA Network +

CompTIA Security +

CompTIA Server+

Check Point Certified Security Administrator (CCSA)

Network Security Expert Level 2 (NSE 2)

General Requirements:

Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance

May be required to work additional hours to support business objectivesLimited availability to take leave during peak business cycles to support business objectives

Valid driver’s license and vehicle are required for this position as it requires client onsite support.

Ability to maintain valid driver's license issued within the United States and proof of personal liability insurance (applicable for mileage reimbursement)

Must be willing to submit to assessment, background, and illegal substance testing prior to employment

Ability to travel, up to 75% of time to domestic locations
